Course Description
This course utilizes Simon Sinek’s Start With Why as a modern framework to explore the patristic concept of purposeful existence. Students will examine the “Golden Circle” not merely as a marketing tool, but as a way to align our outer actions (What) and our inner virtues (How)with our foundational call to participate in God’s mission (Why). By viewing these leadership principles through an Orthodox lens, students will learn to distinguish between the “manipulations” of the fallen world and the “inspiration” of the Holy Spirit. The course will emphasize that self-awareness is a form of ascetic discipline (askesis). By identifying our unique gifts and personality traits, we are better equipped to struggle against our specific passions and offer our “Why” as a liturgical sacrifice for the life of the world. Ultimately, this course seeks to help students articulate their unique contribution to the Kingdom of God, moving from the confusion of the ego to the clarity of a life lived in Christ.
