Welcome to Christian Perspectives on Leadership. In this course, we will study five modern Christian Leaders and why they have been noteworthy: Fr. Alexander Schmemann (challenges), Mother Maria (model), Metropolitan Philip (vision), Archbishop Desmond Tutu (enables action), and St. Sophrony (heart).
IMPORTANT: This course features a weekly forum which is part of your grade. Please respond to the discussion question by Sunday evening (yes, even the Sunday before our first class), and comment (friendly) on another student’s post by Monday evening. In total, there are six discussion questions in the forum. You can access the forum through “Materials.”
Students are required to have an electronic journal that contains all of their notes for every content assignment in the course. There is a required minimum of one paragraph of notes per hour spent on a content assignment. The journal will be submitted in the Lesson Five Quiz when the course is completed.
The students will also complete the Kouzes-Posner-Leadership-Self Development Exercise in lieu of the reading of that text. This will also be submitted in the Lesson Five Quiz when the course is completed. See also the link for Leadership Challenge – the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership to help you with the above Exercise. It is in the Materials List of the course with the exercise PDF.
